Azerbaijan to start to export fresh persimmons to Europe

Azerbaijan will export a new batch of fresh persimmons to the European countries in September 2021, Gadir Yusifov, head of the Azerbaijani Association of Persimmon Producers and Exporters, told Trend.

“Azerbaijan has exported over 37,000 tons of persimmon since the beginning of the year,” Yusifov added. “The export volume has nearly doubled on an annualized basis. The export of fresh persimmons for the reporting period exceeded $30 million."

“The persimmons grown last year are being exported today,” the head of the association added. "The harvest of 2021 will be supplied to Russia and the European countries in September. Farmers will complete all agrotechnical measures till September.”

"The export price of a kilogram of fresh persimmon on average last year amounted to $1.5, dried and frozen persimmon - $10,” Yusifov said. “The price of a kilogram of fresh persimmon in the domestic market of Azerbaijan was 2.5-3 manat ($1.5-1.8)."

The Azerbaijani Association of Persimmon Producers and Exporters was established in August 2017 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and through the support of the Ministry of Economy.

The main objectives of the association are to increase the production of competitive and export-oriented products, as well as supply the products to many more countries.
