Iran’s Alborz Province exports fishery products

A total of 247 tons of fishery products worth $1.6 million were exported from the Alborz Province (northern Iran) in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), Deputy Director for Alborz Province Agriculture Department Laleh Ziaeian told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Ziaeian, the exports of fishery products from Alborz increased by 74 percent in terms of value and by 60 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020).

“The fishery products were exported to European countries, countries around the Persian Gulf, Russia, and Australia,” she added.

The deputy director noted that at the same time, a number of ornamental fish were exported from the province to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ziaeian stressed that 2,550 tons of various fish were raised at 132 fish farms in Alborz Province last Iranian year. In addition, 14.5 million units of ornamental fish were raised at 26 fish farms.

The deputy director said that a total of 1,210 people work in fish farms in the province.

As reported, more than 100 species of ornamental and other fish are raised in fish farms in Iran's Alborz Province.
