1Q2021 volume of sold food products in Azerbaijan's trade network up

The volume of food, beverages, and tobacco products sold in the retail chains of Azerbaijan from Jan. through Mar.2021 exceeded 5.3 billion manat ($3.1 billion), Trend reports referring to the Baku City Statistical Department.

According to the department, this figure means 2.1 percent growth compared to the same period of 2020.

In the first quarter of this year the volume of sales of non-consumer products decreased by 4.7 percent and amounted to 4.3 billion manat ($2.5 billion).

Some 50.1 percent of the sold non-consumer products fell on enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 25.8 percent - on trade facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs, and 24.1 percent - on markets and fairs.

Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover of Azerbaijan shrank by 1.1 percent compared to 1Q2020, making up 9.5 billion manat ($5.6 billion).

In 2020, the volume of trade turnover of Azerbaijan’s Baku rose by 0.5 percent, compared to 2019, making up over 23 billion manat ($13.5 billion).

Meanwhile, the volume of food, beverages, and tobacco products sold in the retail chain of Baku was 6.4 percent more than in 2019 and totaled over 11.7 billion manat ($6.8 billion).

At the same time, the volume of sales of non-food products decreased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 11.28 billion manat ($6.6 billion).

Some 29.4 percent of consumer products were sold in enterprises with the status of a legal entity, 54.2 percent - in trade facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs, and 16.4 percent - in Baku’s markets.
