Iran shares data on exports of handicrafts from Zanjan Province

About $1.33 million worth of various handicrafts were exported from the Zanjan Province (western Iran) in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), Director General for Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Zanjan Province Amir Arjomand told journalists, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The director-general stressed the Zanjan Province is considered one of the main provinces in Iran in the handicraft industry. Therefore, increasing the production and export of handicrafts is in the spotlight.

Arjomand added that the Zanjan Province exported knives and giveh (handmade shoe) to Iraq, traditional jewelry to the countries around the Persian Gulf, leather products to Turkey, and filigree products to some European countries.

“There are about 50 types of handicraft areas in the handicraft industry in Zanjan Province, and currently more than 12,000 people work in this industry,” he said.

Reportedly, a total of $1.26 million worth of handicrafts were exported from Iran's Zanjan Province in the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020).
