Russia ready to help Kazakhstan in construction of nuclear power plant

Russia is ready to offer its help to Kazakhstan in the construction of a nuclear power plant, Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin said, Trend reports citing Russian media.

Borodavkin said that the help may be offered in the case that Kazakhstan makes a decision to construct such a plant.

"Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the peaceful use of atomic energy does not stand still, and I want to repeat that Russia is ready to build a nuclear power plant here," Borodavkin said.

Russian Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation is cooperating with Kazakhstan’s Science of the National Nuclear Center since 2018.

The organizations cooperate in the field of improving the safety of nuclear reactors, creating and improving the characteristics of reactor fuel, testing of fuel for research reactors, exchange of scientific and technical information.

The Memorandum signed by the two parties presupposes joint research in the field of radiation material science and the technology of obtaining new materials.

ROSATOM is engaged into low-carbon generation, including wind energy. The corporation includes about 400 enterprises and organizations employing a total of more than 275,000 people.
