A food bank can be created in Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan.
This statement was made at a meeting dedicated to "Food Waste: Ways to Solve the Problem".
The meeting was organized through the support of the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan, and PASHA Bank.
During the meeting, the head of the department of cooperation with entrepreneurs of the Food Safety Institute Mehran Mammadli touched upon the topic of food losses in Azerbaijan.
“The institute, relying on the international experience, seeks to achieve an optimal solution to this issue,” Mammadli added.
A decision was made in 2020 and from January through April 2021 to destroy 7,489 tons and 84,000 decaliters of products, as well as to dispose of 92,000 tons and 113 decaliters of products.
As for the process of resolving the issue, the proposals were made to create a food bank.
