The volume of exports by road through the Astara border checkpoint in the Gilan Province (northern Iran) increased by 34 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Director General of the Gilan Province Roads and Transportation Department Fariborz Moradi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
Moradi emphasized that a total of 84,753 tons of goods were exported by road through the Astara border checkpoint in the first month.
The director-general added that the exported goods were mainly fruits, vegetables, and ceramics.
“Furthermore, 8,141 tons of goods were imported by road through the Astara border checkpoint within the mentioned month. The imports increased by 9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. The imported goods were mainly wooden materials, cotton, and yarn,” he said.
