Iran and Serbia to expand ties by a preferential trade agreement, said the head of the Europe and America office in Trade and Promotion Organization of Iran(TPO).
Signing preferential trade agreement is being reviewed and there would be more economic cooperation by finalizing the agreement, Mohammad Reza Karimzadeh, told Trend in an interview.
"Expanding banking cooperation and facilitating payment conditions and improving the business environment by the support of companies that are interested in investing in the two countries has special importance," he added.
"On the other hand visiting commercial delegations, holding international exhibitions and trading trade information via commercial chambers of the two countries are some of the plans to develop trade ties that are on the agenda of Trade and Promotion Organization," he said.
Iran's parliament spokesman Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has emphasized the necessity to expand cooperation between the two countries in industrial, trade, agriculture, culture, and tourism in a meeting with the visiting Serbian Foreign Minister.
Ghalibaf has insisted the potential sectors in the two countries should be identified and by specialized working groups drafting a road map to increase trade.
Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Slokovich has also indicated readiness to cooperate in the industrial, economic, agriculture, and health sector and states that considering Iran's capacity to produce medicine, vaccine it is necessary to trade experience in these fields and to fight Coronavirus. The proper investment atmosphere in two countries and joint cooperation in surrounding export markets would be a good ground to expand economic cooperation.
"By solving the issue of the payment system, defining mechanisms and financial works there could be different cooperation in auto and auto part sector that could be used in other countries," Karimzadeh noted.
"The two countries have the potential capacity to cooperate in plant seed, pesticides, chemical fertilizer, irrigation, planting agricultural products, agricultural technology, animal farming, beekeeping, and machineries. Iran has capable companies in these fields," he stated.
Karimzadeh went on to stress that it is necessary that governments would prepare the grounds to develop ties and private sectors in the two countries would constantly review development plans and identify existing opportunities and cooperate with the other trade side and create long term bilateral interests.
