Kazakhstan boosts mining of iron ores

The production volume of iron ores in Kazakhstan has amounted to 20.9 million tons from January through April 2021, which 40 percent more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

According to the data, iron ores production amounted to 5.7 million tons in Apr. 2021, which is 61.1 percent more than in Apr. 2020.

Production of copper ores increased by 15.5 percent during the reporting months having amounted to 41.9 million tons (10.3 million tons in Apr. 2021, an increase by 19.1 percent compared to the same month in 2020).

Production of zinc and copper ores amounted to 2.1 million tons during the reporting period, which indicates a decrease of 15.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The production volume of zinc and copper ores was 489,300 tons in Apr. 2021, which is 16.7 percent less in Apr. 2020.

Production of gold ores amounted to 9.7 million tons over the reporting period, which is 23.7 percent more than during the same period of 2020. The volume of gold ores produced in Apr. 2021 was 2.6 million tons, which is 29.5 percent more than in Apr. 2020.

Production of lead and zinc ores amounted to 2.9 million tons, which is 31 percent more than during the same period of 2020 (609,000 tons in Apr. 2021, up by 23.7 percent compared to Apr. 2020).

As reported, the production of manganese ores amounted to 341,900 tons, which is 71.3 percent more than during the same period of 2020 (96,400 tons in Apr. 2021, an increase of 80.9 percent compared to Apr. 2020).

Production of chrome ores amounted to 1.8 million tons, which is 15.4 percent less than during the same period of 2020 (484,500 tons in Apr. 2021, a decrease of 10.3 percent compared to Apr. 2020).
