Kazakhstan's export to EAEU states grows over six years

Kazakhstan’s exports to the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) member states in 2015-2020 grew from $5.1 billion to $6.4 billion, Vice Minister of the country’s Trade and Integration Zhanel Kushukova said at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Trend reports.

According to Kushukova, the exports from Kazakhstan to Russia rose by 25 percent, to Belarus - by 2 times, and to Kyrgyzstan - by 20 percent.

She noted that a number of measures allow increasing the volume of mutual trade in the EAEU. They include a reduction in costs for business, a decrease in the documentary burden during export due to the exclusion of customs declaration, mutual recognition of certificates of conformity, veterinary and sanitary documents. In general, the range of export goods has changed and expanded.

"In the first years of gaining independence, raw materials traditionally prevailed in our exports, and now 58 percent of our exports are accounted for by the export of processed goods,” the vice minister further said.

“In 2015-2020, the growth of exports of non-primary goods to the EAEU countries amounted to 35 percent, from $2.8 to $3.7 billion. Last year, supplies of fruits and vegetables alone to Russian retail chains exceeded $2.3 billion," added Kushukova.

According to the Ministry of Trade, the potential for increasing the annual supply of food products to the Russian market alone exceeds 100 billion tenge ($230 million). In general, about 10 percent of Kazakhstan’s exports are sent to the EAEU member states.
