Azerbaijani State Service names amount of fines put on consumer market entities

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1

The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Market Control of Azerbaijan conducted investigation regarding law violation cases among the market entities in the first quarter of 2021, a source in the service told Trend.

According to the source, in the reporting period five market entities violated the law and were fined in the total amount of 5,410 manat ($3,180).

Along with the above, the source said that the administrative protocols drawn up in relation to 18 market entities were sent to the relevant judicial authorities for taking appropriate measures.

As to date, cases have been initiated on the basis of price manipulation in the production and sale of steel products, unfair competition in the field of courier services, confusion of consumers in the production and sale of dairy products and illegal use of the trademark of another market entity in the sale of sewing goods, the source noted.

"At present, investigations in these areas are ongoing," concluded the source.

Earlier, during the online briefing "Results of 2020" of the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Market Control under the Ministry of Economy, Deputy Chief Mammad Abbasbayli said that overall in 2020, financial sanctions in the amount of more than 27.5 million manat were applied to the market entities which violated the law ‘On antimonopoly activities’.
