Trade sector has highest share in total turnover in Georgia business sector

The trade sector (including repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles) has the highest share (37.1 percent) in the total turnover in the business sector In the first quarter of 2021 in Georgia, Trend reports referring to the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

As reported, it followed by arts, entertainment, and recreation with 31.7 percent share, manufacturing – 8.8 percent, construction
– 5 percent, transportation, and storage – 4.7 percent, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply – 4.2 percent and other sectors with 8.4 percent share:

In the first quarter of 2021, manufacturing (24 percent), trade (18.3 percent), construction (15.2 percent), and transportation and storage (9.3 percent) are on the top four places in the business sector production value. The rest of the sectors have a 33.2 percent share.

In the reporting period, trade (wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles), manufacturing and Human health and social work activities are leading in the business sector by the number of employees (accordingly with 27.2 percent, 13.6 percent, and 11.6 percent share).

However, construction activities (9 percent), Enterprises engaged in transportation and storage (8 percent) and Information and communication (4.1 percent) have also a significant share.

By regions, Tbilisi and the following regions are leading in gross turnover:

• Tbilisi – 80.2 percent;
• Kvemo Kartli – 4.8 percent;
• Adjara – 3.8 percent;
• Imereti – 3.4 percent;
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 2.7 percent.

By regions, Tbilisi and the following regions are still leading in gross production value:

• Tbilisi – 63 percent;
• Kvemo Kartli – 9.6 percent;
• Adjara – 6.7 percent;
• Imereti – 6.1 percent;
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 5 percent.

The number of employees by regions is distributed as follows:

• Tbilisi – 65.4 percent;
• Adjara – 8.1 percent;
• Imereti – 6.9 percent;
• Kvemo Kartli – 5.8 percent;
• Samegrelo-Zemo svaneti – 4 percent.
