Russian ferrous institute completes first stage of Turkmenistan’s iron ores sample study

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Russia’s I. P. Bardin Central Research Institute of Iron and Steel Industry has completed one of the stages of the study of Turkmenistan’s sample of iron ores and determined their suitability for use in ferrous metallurgy, the institute told Trend.

"Based on the results of the analysis of experimental data, preliminary recommendations on the possibility of ore processing were prepared and sent to the customer," said the institute.

Institute noted that at the next stage of the study, specialists will choose the optimal scheme for enriching the mixed sample and receive experimental batches of iron ore concentrate. The laboratories will determine the methods of compaction and study the metallization of iron ore raw materials.

"After the calculation and selection of charge materials, experimental melting will be carried out to obtain a charge billet suitable for steel production. It is also necessary to determine the output of commercial products and their quality, make a technological balance, and calculate the degree of extraction of the main and associated useful components. The directions of using production waste as raw materials – for obtaining construction and other materials will also be evaluated," the report says.

Baes on the results of the research, Institute will develop recommendations on the technology of processing iron ores and issue a conclusion on the possibility of their use in ferrous metallurgy and for the production of structural steel.
