Azerbaijan tripled sugar and confectionery exports in the first four months of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports referring to the statistical bulletin of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
As the committee said, the annual increase in the exports of the mentioned goods in value terms amounted to $8.96 million.
“The export turnover of sugar and confectionery totaled over $13.5 million, and their share in the country's total exports increased from 0.07 to 0.21 percent,” said the SCC statistical bulletin.
“At the same time, the import of sugar and confectionery has also risen over the year. This figure increased 2.3 times and surpassed $61 million. The share of these goods in Azerbaijan's total imports amounted to 1.73 percent, having increased by 0.94 percentage points on annual basis,” the bulletin reads.
“The total volume of foreign trade turnover of sugar and confectionery from January through April 2021 amounted to $74.6 million, which is 2.4 times more compared to the same period of 2020,” the report said.
Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover as of early May 2021 approached $9.9 billion. Of these, exports accounted for $6.36 billion (64.33 percent), and imports - $3.53 billion (35.67 percent).
