Kazakhstan's gross agriculture output jumps over three years

The value of Kazakhstan’s gross agriculture output increased by 5.7 percent over last three years and amounted to 6.3 trillion tenge ($14.7 billion), Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

In the minister’s words, this is the largest increase indicator among Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries, The manufacturing of food items increased by 4 percent, the value of investments made to the agriculture development grew by 15 percent, whereas in manufacturing of food items – by 13.5 percent.

As a result the overall value of investments in agro industrial complex amounted to 677.2 billion tenge ($1.5 billion) in 2020 exceeding the plan by 154.2 billion tenge ($360.2 million).

He added that the value of subsidizing amounted to 366 billion tenge ($855.1 million) last year, which is 1.6 times more than in 2016. The subsidies were allocated despite the consisted underfunding of the sphere and with taking into account the anti-crisis measures.

“At the same time the subsidizing process was simplified as much as possible and fully automated, which makes it possible to ensure the transparency of the process of allocating subsidies. The number of small and medium-sized farmers receiving subsidies was increased due to changes in subsidy requirements,” the minister said.

“Subsidizing in crop production was combined into uniform rules. Subsidies for plant protection products have been expanded. Now not only herbicides, but also other types of pesticides are subsidized. One of the main innovations is the possibility of receiving subsidies not within a calendar year, but within 12 months from the date of purchasing seeds, fertilizers, pesticides," Omarov said.
