Georgian import price index up, export price index down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23

The Import Price Index (MPI) increased by 2.4 percent over the previous month, while compared to May 2020 the index increased by 27.2 percent in Georgia, Trend reports citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

Compared to May 2020 the prices were 28.8 percent higher for manufactured products.

For products from mining and quarrying a price increase of 12.4 percent was registered, while for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning prices decreased by 22 percent.

With regard to water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services, the prices were 14.6 percent higher.

The Export Price Index (XPI) decreased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month. There was a 50.1 percent decrease in the prices for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning.

Compared to May 2020 the XPI increased by 11.6 percent. In the mentioned period prices increased for manufactured products by 11.7 percent, for products from water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation services by 61.1 percent and for products from mining and quarrying by 3.2 percent.
