Iran sees increase in trade with Syria

TEHRAN, Iran, July 22

Iran and Syria trade is risingit is expected that Iran's trade with Syria would improve in the next Iranian year (to start March 21, 2022), said the head of Iran-Syria Joint Chamber of Commerce.

Iran and Syria trade is rising for the past two years and the commercial level between the two countries has increased from $20 million to $140 million, said Keyvon Kashefi, Trend reports citing ILNA.

About $120 million accounted for Iranian exports to Syria whereas $10 to $15 million accounted for Syrian exports to Iran.

Kashefi went on to say that it is expected the trade between the two countries would reach $500 million by the end of 2021.

"One of the biggest problems in regard to trade with Syria is the time and route for transporting commodity, the route via Iraq has not opened yet and we have to transport commodity by the ship which takes 25 to 30 days," he added.
