The production of vegetables in Turkmenistan increased by 9.5 percent, while melons and gourds by 1.5 percent in 1H2021 compared to 1H2020, Trend reports with reference to the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
During the reporting period, apple production increased by 9.1 percent. Local farmers grew 3.4 percent more berries and fruits in all farms of the country.
The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan collected fruit and vegetables from January through May 2021 - 86.7 percent more than in the same period of 2020.
The initial plan was to collect more than 150,000 tons of various agricultural products during the spring season of 2021, in particular, - 59,566 tons of vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, bell peppers, cabbage, carrots, beets, etc.), and 44,593 tons of berries and grapes.
It was also planned to collect 63,867 tons of cereals and legumes, including corn, soy, barley, etc.
