Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange notes decrease in cement prices

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2

Goods worth 1.644 billion soums ($154,765) were sold on all trading platforms of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange (UZEX) for the period from July 26 to August 1, which is 28.6 percent more than last week, Trend reports referring to UZEX.

According to UZEX, the total volume of transactions involving small businesses and private entrepreneurship amounted to 572.9 billion soums ($54 million). As a result of electronic auctions for public procurement, the total savings of budgetary and corporate customers amounted to 26.3 billion soums ($2.5 million).

During the reporting period, commodity resources worth 1.446 billion soums ($136,126) were sold at open exchange auctions.

Last week, 2,810 tons of cottonseed oil were put up for exchange trades and 1,747 tons, or 62.1 percent, were sold. On average, 113 buyers took part in the exchange trades every day.

During the period under review, the daily average price for all varieties of cottonseed oil decreased from 16,717 soums ($1.5734) to 15,080 soums ($1.4193) per ton, or by 9.8 percent. At the end of the week, the weekly quotation of the first grade of cottonseed oil amounted to 17,393 soums ($1.6370) per ton.

In addition, last week an insignificant decrease in prices was recorded in the prices for sugar. During the past week, 11,972 tons of sugar were put up for sale, of which 11,972 tons was sold, or 95.8 percent.

During the period under review, the daily average price for sugar of all categories decreased by one percent, from 7,385 soums ($0.6951) to 7,290 soums ($0.6861) per ton, or by 1.3 percent.

As a result of exchange trading, the weekly weighted average price for local sugar of the third category amounted to 7,345 soums ($0.6913) per ton.

It is reported that prices for cement at Uzbek exchange market continue to decline despite the growth in demand.

During the past week, 356,437 tons of cement were put up for exchange trades, of which 194,087 tons, or 60.6 percent, were sold. The daily volume of cement sales averaged 38,800 tons.

During the period under review, the daily average price for cement of all categories decreased from 519,000 soums ($48.8) to 504,600 soums ($47.5), or only by 2.8 percent.
