Iran discloses amount of funds needed for development of infrastructures in mining sector

More than $19 billion is needed to develop infrastructures in Iran's industry and mining sectors by March 21, 2025, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the report, 68 percent of the money for the development of infrastructures in the mining sector is accounts for the steel sector.

"A number of steps have been taken in direction to supply Iran's mining industry with sustainable water, and the supplying of water from the Persian Gulf to the Central Iranian Plateau has been launched," the report said.

In addition, work on the supplying water from the Gulf of Oman to Sistan and Baluchestan Province, from the Persian Gulf to Razavi Khorasan and Isfahan provinces has been launched, the report said.

According to the report, he construction of the Bafq-Sangan railway line will be carried out with the participation of the Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development and the private sector. In this regard, a total of 778 km of railway will be built at a cost of 81 trillion rials (about $1.92 billion). The Lamerd-Parsian highway will also be built at a cost of 10 trillion rials (about $238 million).

"By the end of last Iranian year (March 20, 2021), Iran's steel ingots production capacity amounted to 39.4 million tons, sponge iron production capacity – 37.1 million tons, pellet production capacity – 66.7 million tons and concentrate production capacity – 64.1 million tons," the report said.

There are 10,400 units of mining in Iran, of which, 5,600 units are operating, the report said.
