Azerbaijan increases supplies of fruits and vegetables to Russia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 16

Azerbaijan increased the supply of fruits and vegetables to Russia from January 1, 2021, through August 10, 2021, Trend reports via ‘Argus-Fito’ information system of Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor).

In the reporting period, Azerbaijan increased the export of fruits and vegetables to Russia by 4.6 percent - up to 338,200 tons (323,300 tons in the same period of 2020), the Rosselkhoznadzor report said.

At the same time, Azerbaijan increased the export of potatoes to Russia by 23 percent in annual terms - from 68,800 to 84,700 tons, said the report.

“Azerbaijan remains the largest supplier of tomatoes to Russia among the CIS countries (114,000 tons). In addition, in 2021, Azerbaijan increased supplies to Russia of cucumbers, white onions, beets, apples, watermelons, nectarines, peaches, apricots, persimmons, strawberries, pears, melons, sorrel, lettuce, spinach and many other commodity items,” the report said.
