The season of guaranteed purchase of rapeseed from farmers in Iran, which began on April 6, 2021 in Iran, is nearing completion, Director-General of the Internal Procurement Department of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC) Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.
According to the director general, about 127,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran under a guarantee from April 6 to Aug 16, 2021.
Saadati Kia added that the value of purchased rapeseed amounted to about 13.4 trillion rials (about $319 million). About 99.8 percent of the money, i.e., 13.3 trillion rials (about $318 million) has been paid to farmers till yesterday on Aug. 16.
“In addition, 111,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran by the private sector on a contract basis,” he said.
Reportedly, rapeseed has been planted on 350,000 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year and 600,000 tons of rapeseed are estimated to be harvested.
One kilogram of rapeseed is purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran for 110,000 rials (about $2.61).
