Geostat shares data on Georgian external merchandise trade

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $7.48 billion, 21.7 percent higher to the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The exports equaled $2.27 billion (27.8 percent higher), while the imports stood at $5.20 billion (19.3 percent higher).

The negative trade balance was $2.93 billion from January through July 2021 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 39.2 percent.

In the reporting period, the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 77.9 percent. The top partners were China ($370.5 million), Russia ($322.7 million) and Azerbaijan ($295.3 million).

From January through July 2021 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 68.2 percent. The top partners were Turkey ($917.4 million), Russia ($545.3 million) and China ($459.4 million).
