Iran's President, Japanese FM discuss unfreezing of assets in Japan

The Iranian president met with Japan's foreign minister in the capital of Tehran to discuss the release of the Iranian frozen assets in Japan.

During the meeting with the Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, the Iranian President stressed the need to release Iran's frozen assets in Japan, saying that the delay in the release of Iranian assets in Japanese banks is not justified, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi appreciates Japan's humanitarian aids and gifted Covid-19 vaccines.

Amid the fifth wave of the pandemic, Iran received almost three million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines donated by Japan

Japanese Foreign Minister emphasized the necessity of implementing JCPOA as an international agreement.

Responding to the Japanese FM remarks, Raisi says that Iran has complied with all its obligations in JCPOA.

President Raisi went on to say that Iran has no problem with the negotiation.

Referring to the recent developments in Afghanistan, President Raisi welcomed the efforts of Japan and other countries in the region to help establish peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always sought peace and stability in Afghanistan.”

Motegi said Japan also supports diplomatic efforts by regional countries to achieve peace and stability in the region. He said Japan believes problems should be resolved peacefully and through dialogue.

"Tokyo has always supported the JCPOA as an international agreement,” Japanese FM said. “We believe that the revival of the JCPOA is in everyone's interest.”

"Japan supports the diplomatic efforts of the countries in the region to achieve peace, stability and tranquility,” he added.
