Iran’s trade turnover through Mazandaran Province customs soars

Iran’s trade turnover through the customs of the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 48 percent in terms of value and 16 percent in terms of volume during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director-General of Mazandaran Province Customs Office, Ali Yousefimanesh said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to him, Iran’s trade turnover through province’s customs for the reporting period amounted to 1.56 million tons worth $614 million.

Yousefimanesh added that in the five months, 1.21 million tons of goods worth $507 million were exported through the province's customs. Compared to the same period last Iranian year, the exports increased by 50 percent in terms of value and 17 percent in terms of volume.

The director general said that Iran exported 53,000 tons of goods worth $42.6 million to Iraq, 103,000 tons worth $25 million to Russia, 89,000 tons worth $7.42 million to Kazakhstan, 85,000 tons worth $7.37 million to Turkmenistan, and 2,000 tons worth $3 million to Romania through the customs of Mazandaran Province.

“The exported goods were mainly cement, minerals, crude oil, dairy products, wood materials, plastics, various food products, paper, fruit juice and kiwi fruit,” he noted.

Yousefimanesh stressed in addition, a total of 1.2 million tons of goods worth about $507 million were imported to Iran through the customs of Mazandaran Province within the 5 months. This is an increase of 50 percent in terms of value and 17 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“So, Iran imported 433,000 tons of goods worth $188 million from Russia, 278,000 tons worth $105 million from the UAE, 257,000 tons worth $87.8 million from Kazakhstan, 79,000 tons worth $41 million from Turkey and 692,000 tons worth $17 from the UK through province’s customs,” he said.

The director general noted that the imported goods were mainly animal feed, corn feed, wheat, various animal fats and vegetable oils, petroleum coke, wood, oilseeds, equipment and spare parts, etc.

Over the 5 months, 56,000 tons of goods worth 56 million were transited through the customs of the Mazandaran Province, which increased by 100 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, Yousefimanesh emphasized.
