Passenger traffic at Georgia's Kutaisi International Airport in recovers

In August 2021, passenger traffic at the Kutaisi International Airport in Georgia recovered by 52 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2019, Trend reports citing the Union of Airports of Georgia.

According to the agency, in August 2021, the airport served 45,922 passengers, while in 2019 this figure was 87,969.

At the same time, 69 percent of flights at the airport resumed in August.

“At the moment, three airlines operate direct flights to the Kutaisi international airport in 19 directions, including 4 to Kazakhstan and 15 to Europe. Of the 188 flights operated at the Kutaisi international airport in August, 165 were regular and 23 were charter flights, ” said Tamar Archuadze, Director of the Union of Georgian Airports.

In July 2021, passenger traffic at Kutaisi International Airport recovered 50 percent compared to the same month in 2019.

“We are constantly working with airlines to add new destinations and increase the frequency of flights. Our strategic partner, the low-cost airline Wizz Air, has returned to the renovated Kutaisi International Airport and at this stage operates direct regular flights to 14 destinations in Europe. In addition, the Kazakh low-cost airline FlyArystan operates 12 direct regular flights a week from Kutaisi to four directions to Asia. In August, Belavia also began flying to Kutaisi airport, the association said.
