Azerbaijan records increase in imports

The volume of products imported to Azerbaijan increased by $659 million, or 9.8 percent from January through August 2021 – from $6.7 billion to $7.3 billion, Trend reports via State Customs Committee (SCC).

The share of the public sector in total imports accounted for 9.4 percent, or $694.5 million, compared to $1 billion in 2020.

The private sector accounted for 79.1 percent, or $5.8 billion, compared to $5 billion from January through August 2020.

The share of individuals' products in imports amounted to 11.4 percent, or $841.8 million of all imports, compared to $612.3 million over the reporting period of 2020.

Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations with 180 partner countries from January through August 2021 in total.

About 45,000 people participated in foreign trade operations, of which 37,410 were individuals, 7,630 were legal entities. The private sector accounted for 7,400 people, and the public sector - 234.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijani imports share most fell on mechanisms, power tools, equipment and its spare parts, vehicles and their parts, food products.
