Kazakhstan and the EBRD will sign agreements on the implementation of joint projects totaling $600 million by the end of 2021, Trend reports via the government of Kazakhstan.
The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin told this at the meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso.
"During the period of the EBRD's activity in Kazakhstan, about 300 projects totaling over $10 billion were financed in such priority sectors of the economy like finance, infrastructure, housing, and communal services, energy, small and medium-sized businesses, agriculture, and IT. By the end of 2021, agreements will be signed on the implementation of joint projects totaling $600 million," the PM said.
The parties discussed the practical implementation of the framework partnership agreement signed in March 2021 between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD to expand cooperation aimed at promoting sustainable development.
The issues of further expansion of the EBRD's participation in infrastructure development, implementation of the decarbonization program of the energy sector of Kazakhstan, the EBRD's "Green Cities" projects, modernization of sewage treatment plants, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses were considered.
Currently, special attention is paid to the construction projects of the Big Almaty Ring Road (BAKAD), the S. D. Asfendiyarov Hospital in Almaty, and other healthcare facilities within the context of public-private partnership.
As a result of negotiations, cooperation agreements were signed on projects of modernization and expansion of the Almaty airport, reconstruction of the Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan highway.
