TEHRAN, Iran, Sept. 25
Trend:
Development of Iran's exports to Iraq and other neighboring countries is necessary, and it depends on proper infrastructure, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said, Trend reports via IRNA.
Raisi made the remark during his recent visit to the country's Ilam Province (on the border with Iraq).
"Iran's share of export to regional countries could be increased from $20 billion to $50 billion," he noted.
With regards to Iraq, Raisi called for formation of a legal and economic working group between Iran and Iraq, especially Ilam Province and other neighbor provinces with Iraq to resolve exporters' problem.
Speaking of Ilam Province, Raisi said tourism is an important field of development for the province and could help tackle unemployment.
Raisi explained that the infrastructure in Ilam Province should be ready - so that railway corridor and highways are prepared for full communication with Iraq and in the field of export the province could become a main market for producers.
Iran Customs Administration has recently announced the value of Iran’s export to Iraq has risen 31 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21- August 22), as compared to the same period of time in the past year.
