In total, 123,000 tons of tea leaves have been harvested in Iran from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to September 25, the Chairman of the Iran Tea Organization, Habib Jahansaz told IANA, Trend reports.
The chairman emphasized that if the weather conditions are favorable, an additional 13,000-15,000 tons of tea leaves are projected to be harvested in Iran. Thus, tea leaves harvesting in Iran will reach 135,000 tons.
Jahansaz added that the value of tea leaves purchased from farmers so far amounted to 6.99 trillion rials (about $166 million). About 85 percent of the money has been paid to the farmers.
Jahansaz also noted that so far, Iran has produced 27,700 tons of dry tea.
As reported, the price of first-grade tea leaves is 66,900 rials (about $1.59), and the second-grade tea leaves are 44,800 rials (about $1.06) in this season.
