Iran boosts exports of metal products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 20

Iran's exports of metal and mining products increased by 147 percent in terms of value and 61 percent in terms of volume, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Chairperson of the Mining Industry Group of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI), Ilaha Mokri said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

According to Mokri, Iran exported about 9.4 million tons of metals and mining products worth $5.55 billion in 6 months.

The official added that the increase in the volume and value of exports of these products is due to a number of reasons, including rising prices.

Mokri noted that in total, the exports of eight products for six months amounted to $4.98 billion.

“So, Iran exported steel ingots worth $2.23 billion, long steel products worth $901 million, copper cathode worth $641 million, steel rolls worth $316 million, aluminum ingots worth $297 million, iron ore worth $234 million, zinc ingots worth $224 million and sponge iron worth $151 million over 6 months,” she said.

The official stressed that the value of 1 ton of exported copper cathode was $9,560, plumbing fixtures (water taps, etc.) was $7,000, zinc ingots was $2,950, aluminum ingots was $2,410, and lead ingots $2,290.
