Iran shares data on exports of fishery products

Iran exported 62,500 tons of fish and fishery products during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), Deputy Chairman of Iran Fisheries Organization Isa Golshahi said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran.

According to Golshahi, Iran exported more than 27,000 tons of various fish, 201 tons of ornamental fish, 8,900 tons of shrimp, 6,500 tons of canned fish, 1.2 tons of sturgeon caviar, 2 tons of trout fry were exported.

"So, 2 tons of trout fry were mainly exported to Azerbaijan, Georgia and several other countries,” he added.

The deputy also noted that about 4 tons of sturgeon caviar were exported over the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), of which 2.28 tons were exported through Iranian customs for trade.

Golshahi said that about 1.6 tons of sturgeon caviar were sold in 30, 50, and 100-gram containers at duty-free airports.

"Valuable and small-scale products such as sturgeon caviar are exported from the country in two forms (by trade and individuals),” he said.
