Iran unveils volume of goods exported/imported though Imam Khomeini International Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 10

In general, 3,060 tons of goods were exported through the customs of Imam Khomeini International Airport in the Tehran Province (northern Iran), during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), Director General of the Imam Khomeini International Airport’s Customs Office, Ali Soleimani said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to the director general, the exported goods were mainly saffron, carpets, rugs and medicines.

“In addition, 15,000 tons of goods were imported through the customs of the airport in 7 months. Imported goods were mainly medicines and raw materials for the production of medicines, medical supplies and mobile phones,” he added.

Soleimani noted that the airport's customs revenues for the reporting period amounted to 26.7 trillion rials (about $636 million), which is an increase of 66 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The director general emphasized that 2.04 million passengers were transported through Imam Khomeini International Airport in 7 months. Passenger transportation increased by 529 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“So, 870,000 passengers entered the country and 1.08 million left the country within the mentioned period,” Soleimani said.
