Iran sees surge in registration for affordable housing plan

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.15

Application for Iran's affordable housing plan also known as the National Housing Initiative reached 1.1 million, the Ministry of Road and Urban Development announced, Trend reports citing ILNA.

The latest statistics show 1,189,712 applicants registered for low-income housing units as the registration process will continue until November 19.

Qualified applicants should be 35, married, and reside in a city for five years while individuals with disabilities aged 20 and single parents that are heads of households could also apply for low-income housing units.

Iran Ministry of Road and Urban Development plans construction of two million housing units for low-income class in one year as part of government landmark housing plan to build four million residential units in next four years to maintain the surging prices in the housing market.

Mehr Housing Project and the National Housing Action Plan were two other affordable housing schemes, previously launched by formers administrations that faced a shortage of resources.
