A total of 137,000 tons of green tea leaves produced during the current Iranian year (started on March 21) have been purchased by the government from local farmers at 6.9 trillion rials (about$164 million).
The government and tea factories have paid 92 percent of delayed debts to tea farmers, the Chairman of Iran Tea Organization told Trend in an interview.
Farmers received 6.9 trillion rials (about$164 million) from 7.4 trillion rials (about$180 million) of delayed debt by November 11, Habib Jahansaz noted.
Iran has produced 137,000 tons of green leave in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) that are processed into 30,000 tons of dry tea leaves.
Tea production was less than predictions due to the decline of rainfall, he indicated.
