TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 13
Trend:
Iran`s machine-made carpet exports are less than $200 million a year, said the Head of Commercial Services Department at Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, Trend reports citing ILNA.
The Head of the Commercial Services Department at TPO Ehsan Ghamari made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the first symposium of the Iranian machine-made carpet industry.
"Unfortunately, despite the large capacity, the export of Iranian machine-made carpets is less than $200 million per year, which is not an acceptable figure,” he said.
He suggested the private sector step into international markets, instead of meeting domestic needs.
The TPO official noted that the machine-made carpet exports stood at $129 million in the first 7 months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), while the average export in the same period last year was $103 million.
“Turkey, Belgium, and Germany are the countries which export machine-made carpets much more than Iran,” said Ghamari.
