Iran continues to import wheat via two ports of Mazandaran Province

About 274,000 tons of wheat have been imported through Amirabad and Noshahr ports of the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran), from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to December 14, Director General of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Mazandaran Province Abbasali Vafayinejad said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

The director general said that about 249,000 tons of wheat have been imported through the Amirabad port and 25,200 tons through the Noshahr port within the mentioned period.

Vafayinejad added that wheat is imported at the order of the Iranian Government Trading Corporation, and the GTC continues to import wheat to meet the country's needs.

During the first 8 months of the current Iranian year, Iran imported 20.3 million tons of strategically essential products worth $12.4 billion, which accounted for 38 percent of Iran's total imports in value and 75 percent volume.

Iran's foreign trade turnover for the first eight months of the current Iranian year amounted to more than 110 million tons worth $63.1 billion. Trade turnover increased by 40 percent in value and 43.5 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
