Iran’s trade turnover with neighboring countries growing – IRICA

Iran's trade turnover with neighboring countries increased by 45 percent in value and 19 percent in volume, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, the country's trade turnover with neighboring countries for the reporting period amounted to 68 million tons worth $33 billion.

Latifi added that Iran exported about 52.4 million tons of goods worth $16.6 billion to neighboring countries in 8 months. Exports increased by 24 percent in value and 11 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The spokesman noted that the neighboring countries accounted for 53 percent of Iran’s total exports for eight months in value and 62 percent in volume.

“The exported goods were mainly petrochemical products, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), oil products, agricultural and food products, industrial products, and construction materials,” he said.

The custom official also pointed out that Iran imported 15.6 million tons of goods worth $16.3 billion from neighboring countries within 8 months, which is an increase of 75 percent in value and 62 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year. The neighboring countries accounted for 59 percent of Iran's total imports for the mentioned period in value and 51 percent in volume.

Iran's foreign trade turnover for the first eight months of the current Iranian year amounted to more than 110 million tons worth $63.1 billion. Trade turnover increased by 40 percent in value and 43.5 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
