The lemonarium in the Akhal region offers Turkmenistan high-quality and organic lemons, the lemonarium agronomist Nurgeldy Sopiyev told Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper, Trend reports.

"The mass collection of lemons this season began in October and will end in January 2022. Our lemonarium contributes to supplying people with high-quality and organic lemons," the agronomist said.

The lemons from the Sopiyev Agricultural Joint Stock Company's greenhouse located in the Akhal region are in high demand on the domestic market.

The lemonarium, which was established in 1985, has a significant harvest every year. There are 8,000 lemon trees in the 4.5-hectare greenhouse.

Some 70 tons of lemons were collected from the lemonarium last year.

There are currently over a hundred private greenhouse complexes operating in the country, covering a total area of 356 hectares. New greenhouse complexes equipped with digital technologies are expected to be built in the future.

Greenhouses developed by Turkmenistan's Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and outfitted with cutting-edge technology and water-saving systems are designed to generate 8,750 tons of vegetable products per year.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. This is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown in Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beets, as well as fodder, vegetables, melons, fruit, and berry crops.
