Iran exported 6.26 million tons of agricultural products worth about $3.9 billion, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mohammad Ghorbani said, Trend reports citing ministry.
The deputy minister said that Iran exported 443,000 tons of livestock and poultry products worth $406 million, 88,000 tons of fishery products worth $159 million, as well as, 4 million tons of crops worth $1.4 billion and 1.7 million tons of horticultural products worth $1.87 billion.
Ghorbani added that watermelons (795,000 tons), tomatoes (617,000 tons), apples (598,000 tons), potatoes (528,000 tons), onions and garlic (284,000 tons) were the main products in terms of volume exported by Iran for the reporting period.
“In addition, pistachios (worth about $739 million), tomatoes ($289 million), watermelons (about $186 million), dates (about $186 million) and apples (about $169 million) were the main exported products in terms of value,” he said.
The deputy minister also pointed out added Iran imported 23.4 million tons of agricultural products within nine months.
According to Ghorbani, Iran mainly imported 6.89 million tons of corn feed, 5.03 million tons of wheat, 2.68 million tons of barley, 1.97 million tons of compressed soybeans and 1.82 million tons of soybeans in 9 months.
