Iran shares data on exports from Aras Free Trade Zone

Iran exported $224 million worth of products from the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone in the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran), during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), Managing Director of Iran’s Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone Mohsen Nariman told IRNA, Trend reports.

The director stressed that exports increased by 88 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the value of exports amounted to $119 million.

"The exported goods were mainly bitumen, various plastic products, propylene, steel ingots, greenhouse products and etc. These goods were exported to Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia, Iraq, Georgia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Germany and other countries," he said.

Nariman also pointed out $204 million worth of products manufactured in the zone were exported within the country. This is an increase of 64 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at $124 million.

Iran's Araz Free Trade Zone is located on the banks of the Araz River. The zone covers an area of more than 57,000 hectares.
