Exports of East Azerbaijan Province to its neighboring countries have increased by 61 percent (to Russia, Turkey, etc.), the Deputy Governor of East Azerbaijan Province at Economic Affairs Mohammad Kalami told Trend.
“The policies of Iran's border provinces should be in line with the government's policy to expand trade with neighboring countries,” Kalami said.
He noted that East Azerbaijan Province has put the strategy of expanding its relations with the Eurasian and neighboring countries, on the agenda, reminding that the province managed to attract over $11 million of foreign investment in the last three months.
According to the deputy governor, the foreign investments mostly went into the Tabriz Petrochemical company, Aras Free Zone, and production of plastic bags.
Recently, a Supreme Council for Investment was established in East Azerbaijan province. Kalami said this has led to an acceleration of the issuance of trade licenses and the attraction of foreign investors.
