Jafari said that a number of mining facilities at a cost of $4.7 billion have been put into operation since the beginning of the last Iranian year (March 20, 2020). These facilities operate in the production of nepheline syenite, gold, steel and others.

The official added that in total, the IMIDRO has so far spent $23.5 billion in the country's mining sector.

“By 2025, the IMIDRO plans to invest $12.5 billion more in the country's mining sector,” he noted.

According to Jafari, exploration operations have been carried out in 134 places in 30 provinces of Iran. Work is underway on the extraction of minerals from these mines.

“Work on several gold mines has been completed. In the next 3-4 years, new mines will be announced to the private sector. At present, Kazakh and Georgian companies operate in two gold mines in Iran's Kurdistan and East Azerbaijan provinces,” Jafari pointed out.
