Iran declares amount of money to be spent on purchase of agricultural machinery

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 17

Iran is expected to spend more than 75 trillion rials (about $1.78 billion) on the purchase of agricultural machinery for the next Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Director of the Iranian Agricultural Equipment Development Center Kambiz Abbasi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

According to Abbasi, Iranian Agricultural Equipment Development Center supports both producers and farmers in this regard.

The director said that more than 60 trillion rials (about $1.43 billion) has been spent on the purchase of agricultural machinery in Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“Over 400,000 hectares of the paddy fields in the country have been planted thanks to using agricultural machinery, as well as, over 550,000 hectares of the paddy fields have been harvested at the expense of agricultural machinery,” he noted.

Abbasi also added that there are about 8 million hectares of area under wheat and barley in the country. More than 6.5 million hectares of the areas have been planted by using agricultural machinery. Also, more than 95 percent of the mentioned areas have been harvested by combine harvesters.

The director emphasized that there are currently 523 companies operating in Iran for the production and supply of necessary equipment for agriculture, horticulture, livestock, poultry and fisheries fields.
