TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.22
Trend:
Iran's national housing construction plan will create jobs for more than nine million people, said the Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development Mahmoud Mahmoudzadeh, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"Building one residential unit would create indirect and direct jobs for 2.4 people, and the construction of four million housing units would create jobs for 9.6 million people," he said.
The government has assigned 980,000 units of land for housing construction in the past five months and so far construction of 320,000 houses was completed. About 1.4 million units of land will be assigned to the construction in the future.
The official has noted that the construction of 4 million houses requires about $761 million financial resources to be complete.
The Iranian government's landmark housing plan aims to build four million residential units for the low-income class in the next four years to maintain the surging prices in the housing market.
