SECO allocates funds to enhance capacities for macroeconomic planning in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb.25

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

SECO - State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland has recently approved a project related to Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), allocating CHF 5 million (approx. USD 5.4 million) for it, SECO told Trend.

“This project aims at enhancing capacities for macroeconomic planning, managing public investments and understanding debt sustainability, among others, within different governmental authorities of Azerbaijan, including the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” said the state secretary.

This new project, which will run form 2021 until 2025, builds on SECO’s long-standing technical support and capitalizes SECO’s cooperation with the Azerbaijani authorities on Financial Programming.

“It will be implemented by the World Bank Group's International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Apart from this project on MTEF, SECO continues to finance technical assistance in different domains such as debt management, financial sector development and tax policy for example,” said SECO.

SECO is the federal government’s center of expertise for core issues relating to economic policy. Its aim is to ensure sustainable economic growth, high employment and fair working conditions by providing a stable environment for regulatory, economic and foreign trade policy.
