Iran sees increase in iron ore production from Sangan Iron Ore Complex

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7

Iron ore production from the Sangan Iron Ore Complex in the Razavi Khorasan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 10 percent, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through February 19, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

According to the report, the complex produced 16.5 million tons of iron ore within the mentioned period. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 15 million tons.

At the same time, 23.7 million tons ofwaste were extractedfrom the complex in 11 months.

Over the 11th month (January 21through February 19, 2022) alone, the complex produced about 1.9 million tons of iron ore.

The volume of waste extracted from the complex in the 11th month was more than 2 million tons.

The Sangan Iron Ore Complex operates under the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).
