BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Iran’s Government Trading Corporation (GTC) started to purchase wheat from farmers under a guarantee in the Sarbaz County of Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran), as of March 24, 2022, Director General of the GTC’s branch in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Gholamali Ganjali said, Trend reports citing the corporation’s official website.

The director general stressed that more than 120 tons of wheat have been purchased from farmers under a guarantee from March 24 to March 30, 2022.

Ganjali added that due to the large area of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the purchase of wheat in the province will continue for a long time.

According to him, about 25,000 tons of wheat were purchased from farmers in this province under a guarantee over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“Whereas, in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), 35,000 tons of wheat are expected to be purchased from farmers in the province,” Ganjali said.

The price of 1 kg of wheat was set up at 115,000 rials (about $2.74) for the current Iranian year.
