BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Iran’s exports through the customs of the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) increased by 38 percent in value and 14 percent in volume, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), an official of Mazandaran Province Customs Office, Ali Yousefimanesh said, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to him, a total of 3.83 million tons of goods worth $1.52 billion were exported through the province’s customs last Iranian year.

“The main exported goods were minerals, dairy products, rubber, kiwi fruit and etc. These goods were exported to 53 countries, including Iraq, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Turkey, and others,” the official added.

Yousefimanesh also said that more than 2.89 million tons of goods worth about $1.24 billion were imported through the province's customs last Iranian year.

The official noted that through the province’s customs Iran imported goods from 28 countries, including Russia, the UAE, Turkey, Germany, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Turkmenistan, the Netherlands, and the UK. The imported goods were mainly animal feed, wheat, butter, wood materials, and oilseeds.

“Furthermore, 172,000 tons of goods worth $168 million were transited through province’s customs over last Iranian year. Transit of goods increased by 166 percent in value and 221 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official pointed out.

He said that the main goods transited via the province customs were cigarettes, pipes, chemicals, wood, etc. The goods were transited in the direction of Pakistan, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.

The customs official stressed that the customs revenues of Mazandaran Province for the last Iranian year amounted to 6.32 trillion rials (about $150 million). This is more than 94 percent compared to the same period preceding the Iranian year.
