BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. Iran’s exports through the customs of the East Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran) amounted to 2.8 million tons worth $1.65 billion, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Supervisor of East Azerbaijan Customs Office Leila Arvanaghi told reporters, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

According to her, this is an increase of 16 percent in value, while a decrease of 9 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

Arvanaghi said that main exported goods through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province were carpets, handicraft products, sweets, steel and cast iron, rubber products, minerals, petrochemicals, etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Georgia, Bulgaria, UAE, Italy and other countries,” the official said.

Arvanaghi also noted that $1.2 billion worth of goods were imported via the customs of East Azerbaijan Province for the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 19 percent in value, compared to the preceding Iranian year,” the official noted.

The official stressed that customs revenues of the East Azerbaijan Province for last Iranian year amounted to 9.26 trillion rials (about $220 million).
